Uses and benefits of Alkathru syrup :-

1. Alkathru is a urinary alkaliser indicated for the treatment of renal tubular acidosis, gout and kidney stones. Kidney stones are small and hard deposits made up of calcium, phosphate and other mineral/acid salts that stick together in concentrated urine. Renal tubular acidosis is a condition in which the kidneys fail to excrete acids into the urine; this causes the blood to remain too acidic.

2. Alkathru contain disodium hydrogen citrate, which metabolises to bicarbonate and increases the excretion of free bicarbonate ions; this increases the solubility of cysteine in the urine and ionises uric acid to soluble urate ion. This helps in increasing the urinary pH, thereby makes the urine less acidic.

3. Main use of this syrup is renal tubular acidosis, Kidney stones.

4. Side effect of this syrup-

   1. Abdominal discomfort

   2. Diarrhoea

   3. Tiredness

   4. Vomiting

   5. Nausea

   Storage – Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.

How to use

The suggested dose of this syrup should be diluted with a glass of water and taken after meals. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take this syrup.
